Thinking of a place
Thinking of a Place is a series of self-portraits taken with an analogue camera in a white cube studio. This photographic series references the work of feminist artists such as Maya Deren and Francesca Woodman, engaging with their legacy of using the body and personal space to explore psychological states.
These controlled environments served as a tool to experiment with movement and to examine female fragility and freedom. The work was created in complete solitude. The slow, manual process of experimenting with film sensitivity and long exposures became a meditation on loneliness. This technical embrace of chance and materiality mirrors the thematic focus on the fragile and evolving self.
